When we were creating the That’s My Jam! white paper, most of the jam organizers mentioned that they wished they were able to offer more support to the jammers needing advice on what to do next. So we created an interactive resource to guide them on their post-jam journey.
We will be launching the interactive resource at the Full Indie Summit (Vancouver BC) on Sat. September 13 with the following session:
Jams are a folk tradition in the games community that people take for granted, but let’s take a moment to investigate what makes them so useful and generative both culturally and economically. Jim Munroe will be giving a short overview of the findings in a white paper his non-profit GAIN researched about jams and will launch a new interactive resource to help jammers explore where to take their game next. Then he will discuss game jams with three special guests, asking Daniel Mullins about the jam origins of Inscryption, Isadora Sophia about developing her Murder Engine for a jam game, and Justin Smith about how jams impacted Desert Golf and his other work.
